A LIVE CRIME WHODUNIT & KNIVES OUT SCREENING AT THE SECRET MOVIE CLUB THEATER! on Thursday, February 23, 2023

*Please note entrance/parking is actually in the back of the building. Make a right on Wilson Street, then a right behind the building. We’re the first set of black steps after the big gate.
SPECIAL NOTE: Your ticket is for the entire event. All audience purchasing a ticket need to arrive by 7:30pm when the event begins. We will be closing the doors shortly thereafter.
7:30pm THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING REEL. Murdle.com presents an original whodunit pre-show, written by G. T. Karber and performed by the Hollywood Mystery Society. The projectionist has been murdered and the first reel of the film has been stolen, so we need your help to save the screening. Get to the theater an hour early to talk to the witnesses, investigate the clues, and see if you can solve the mystery before showtime!
8:30pm KNIVES OUT (2019, dir. Rian Johnson, Lionsgate, USA, 131mns, Digital)
We’re beyond thrilled (and maybe a little scared) to partner with Murdle.com and the Hollywood Mystery Society for a live “who done it” written specifically for the Secret Movie Club Theater space followed by a screening of Rian Johnson’s surprises 2019 mystery hit Knives Out starring Daniel Craig as ace detective Benoit Blanc.
Your ticket is for the entire night so please plan to arrive by 7:30pm to have an hour of pre-screening fun as a murder mystery unfolds before your very eyes. Then, just before we start Knives Out, we’ll test your own detective skills to see if you can guess who committed the murder and how.
Then we follow the pre-show (maybe the most amazing pre-show we’ve ever hosted in the theater) with Rian Johnson’s ensemble mystery hit Knives Out which was so successful, it has already birthed an equally lauded sequel (2022’s Glass Onion) and another mystery shortly on the way.
The ensemble cast includes Ana De Armas, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtiss, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Colette, Lakeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer and follows the machinations of a spoiled family after the apparent suicide (or was it murder) of its patriarch, murder writer Harlan Thrombey. To everyone’s fury, Thrombey leaves his fortune to his nurse, Marta Cabrera. Enter eccentric detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig, clearly having a ball) who may or may not have the skills to actually crack this complicated and treacherous case.
So if you’re ready to get your mystery on, be here at the strike of seven and a half bells as Murdle.Com & the Hollywood Mystery Society put on a pre-show for the ages followed by a great movie.

REFUNDS:
We can offer refunds up to 24 hours before showtime. Please request a refund through Eventbrite and we will process ASAP. After that, no refunds. Sorry.
However if something last minute comes up and you can’t make the screening, for whatever reason, just write to us before showtime: community@secretmovieclub.com and we’ll offer you complimentary tickets to a future screening, good for 90 days. (Disclaimer: Future screening must have available tickets, cannot be a fundraiser, and must be comparably priced)
HELPFUL SECRET MOVIE CLUB (1917 Bay Street, 2nd Floor, LA, CA 90021) THEATER PARKING TIPS:
We recommend that you park just outside our theater. Remember our theater is actually in a beautiful street art alleyway in the back of the 1917 Bay Street building. You get to our entrance by taking a right on Wilson, then a right behind the building. We are the first set of black steps on the right after the big gate.
There is also a parking lot at the corner of Mateo and Violet Street, just 2 blocks from our theater, which costs $7 per car.
