IMPORTANT NOTES:

**WE ARE OBSERVING ALL COVID HEALTH PROTOCOLS ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY OF LA DEPT OF PUBLIC HEALTH (AS DIRECTED 4/17/21).

THIS INCLUDES KEEPING OUR CAPACITY TO A TOTAL OF 200 GUESTS PER SCREENING (10% MAX CAPACITY), 6-12FT DISTANCING, ENFORCED MASK WEARING, ETC.

***ALL GUESTS WILL BE TAKEN THROUGH PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO ENTERING THEATER SO EVERYONE CAN HAVE A FUN AND SAFE TIME.

****Because we are able to maintain 6ft-12ft of distancing between all households due to the movie palace size of the theater (2000 seats but we’re only using 200 seats), Grand Central Market (next door) is allowing all audience to purchase food & drink (including alcoholic beverages) and bring them into the theater. So please feel free before your screening or at intermission to head over to GCM to get food/beverage to bring back into theater.

HOW TO:

1)PLEASE PURCHASE ALL TICKETS FOR FOLKS IN YOUR “HOUSEHOLD” AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL HELP US KNOW HOW TO LAY OUT THAT DAY’S SEATING PLAN.  So for example, if you are attending in a group of 3 people all of whom will be sitting together, please purchase ALL 3 TICKETS at the same time.

For the time being, we are capping the maximum “household” number to 4 tickets/4 people who can sit next to each other.

2)PLEASE BRING AND BE READY TO WEAR A PROPER MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE THEATER.  While you will be able to order, eat, and drink concessions in your reserved seating area (always 6-12 ft apart from other households), you will be required to wear your mask at all other times.

3)PRE-ORDER ANY CONCESSIONS OR MOVIE MERCHANDISE you would like from the additional Add-Ons. You can pick up all concessions & merchandise at our tables in our lobby prior to the screening.

We will be able to sell concessions & merchandise at the theater. But it will make everything much quicker and easier if you pre-order!

4)PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ANYONE EXHIBITING COVID OR FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AT THE DOOR, WILL BE OFFERED COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS TO A FUTURE SHOW AND ASKED TO RETURN WHEN HEALTHY.  So please, if you’re feeling sick, just write us at community@secretmovieclub.com and we’ll offer you complimentary tickets to a future screening when you’re healthy.  Let’s all do our part to beat this thing so we can go back to the complete movie going experience!

Today, we do a Million Dollar Matinee of the two great Al Pacino/Brian De Palma collaborations Scarface and Carlito’s Way BOTH ON 35MM IN A MOVIE PALACE!

First up, the 1983 gangster stunner Scarface, written by Oliver Stone, directed with all-out near sci-fi bravado by Brian De Palma, and starring a totally committed over the top Al Pacino.

This movie is about excess in all its forms. Drenched in tropical, brightly lit, Miami colors, Scarface re-works Howard Hawks’ classic about Al Capone into a 1980’s updating about Cuban Tony Montana (Pacino) who comes to the United States wanting a piece of the American Dream. And he’ll get it anyway he needs to.

Tony works his way up the Miami mafia mob until he positions himself to take over as cocaine kingpin, including making moves on local kingpin Frank Lopez’s girlfriend, the stunning Elvira (Michelle Pfieffer in full on material girl mode).

But when is enough enough? Scarface is one of those rare movies where its form/style is the perfect compliment to its themes.  Filled with horrifying and classic sequences like an early drug hand off gone wrong that ends with a chainsaw to an assassination attempt in a club to a final showdown in a cocaine drenched mansion, Scarface takes you to the limit. . .and beyond.

We follow it up with De Palma’s and Pacino’s collaboration 10 years later, the reformed gangster movie Carlito’s Way.

Here we get a fascinating (and in many ways equally great) movie about newly released reformed gangster, Carlito, who is determined to go legit, win back his ex-girlfriend, and keep himself from getting dragged back into the nocturnal dog eat dog world of gangsters, drug runners, cokeheads, etc.

Carlito’s Way is a fascinating mirror image of Scarface. Whereas Tony in Scarface throws himself head first into crime, Carlito in Carlito’s Way will do everything he needs to stay out of it. But Carlito’s Way is still an action-packed dive into the underworld as Carlito tries to run a nightclub but finds himself having to always be three steps ahead of up and coming gangsters, disloyal friends, and shadowy figures who want a piece of what he has or want to take a piece out of him.

Ending with a superb and tautly directed suspense sequence as Carlito tries to make a train and evade capture, Carlito’s Way is every inch the great movie that Scarface is. So come join us to watch two of Brian De Palma and Al Pacino’s best movies ON 35MM!

Best always,

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR OUR IN-DOOR THEATER SCREENINGS

REFUNDS:

We can offer refunds up to 24 hours before showtime. Please request a refund through Eventbrite and we will process ASAP. After that, no refunds. Sorry.

However if something last minute comes up and you can’t make the screening, for whatever reason, just write us at: community@secretmovieclub.com and we’ll offer you complimentary tickets to a future screening.

WHY ARE THE TICKET PRICES HIGHER THAN NORMAL?

In order for us to re-open, maintain health protocols (which includes operating at only 50% capacity), and screen movies on 35MM, we need to temporarily raise our ticket prices. We apologize.

However, if you could look at this as partially helping Secret Movie Club re-open indoor theaters and 35MM film screening,  we would be eternally grateful.

As we can increase capacity, we will IMMEDIATELY LOWER ticket prices.

If you could look at this as all of us being in this together, we WILL remember your kindness.

HELPFUL MILLION DOLLAR THEATER MOVIE PALACE PARKING TIPS:

We recommend you go to ADD ONS and pre-order an all day $6 Grand Central Parking Lot Pass. The Grand Central Parking Lot is at the corner of 3rd Street and Hill Street just 1 block from the Million Dollar Theater entrance on 3rd & Broadway.

HOW WILL OUR STAFF MAKE SURE THE THEATER IS AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE:

We will have staff in the theater (on both the ground and balcony levels) at all times who make sure everyone is wearing masks and obeying protocols. We will have signage at entrance, markings at concessions, restrooms, etc so folks keep 6 ft distance at all times.

Anyone not observing safe protocols will kindly be asked to leave. On top of this, we’ll be making announcements at the head of each screening to make sure everyone understands the rules & regs!
