Our series of Kieslowski's THREE COLORS trilogy concludes with THREE COLORS: RED on 35mm!
Boy, does Kieslowski know how to wrap up a trilogy. Just like THE DEKALOGUE, Kieslowski finds an almost mind-blowingly fascinating way to wrap up the THREE COLORS trilogy in a deeply satisfying way that defies all expectations.
Here we get a kind of philosophical and existential mystery. Valentine, a beautiful model in Geneva, suddenly finds herself dealing a retired judge Kern when she takes on the pregnant dog he's seemingly abandoned.
When the dog leads her back to Kern, she discovers that Kern eavesdrops on his neighbors through sophisticated surveillance equipment. Though she's rightfully quick to judge, she soon discovers his reasons AND the behaviors of the people he spies on are much more complex and mysterious then she at first assumed.
Suddenly we get the Judge's story told parallel with Valentine's story and soon discover that the two stories rhyme, contrast, comment on each other in deeply profound ways.
And does Kieslowski reference the characters of the first two movies? How does the trilogy get wrapped up? Well, you'll just have to come and see.
Join us for one of the most ambitious thematic trilogies of the last 40 years.
