IMPORTANT NOTE: We'll be screening 3-4 episodes a night across three days.
This is one of the greatest works of cinema ever made. We're doing this.
*Please note entrance/parking is actually in the back of the building. Make a right on Wilson Street, then a right behind the building. We’re the first set of black steps after the big gate. We’ll have staff to help guide/park you.

***Starting November 4th, 2021 ALL AUDIENCE will be required to show proof of vaccination at the door. PLEASE HAVE YOUR VIRTUAL OR PHYSICAL VACCINATION CARD READY BEFORE ENTERING THE THEATER. If you have a religious exemption, please have proof of a negative COVID test within 3 days of the screening.
***ALL GUESTS WILL BE TAKEN THROUGH PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO ENTERING THEATER SO EVERYONE CAN HAVE A FUN AND SAFE TIME.
***EVERYONE WILL STILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS INDOORS WHEN NOT EATING/DRINKING CONCESSIONS IN THEIR ASSIGNED SEATS.
HOW TO:
1)PLEASE BRING AND BE READY TO WEAR A PROPER MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE THEATER AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION.
2)PRE-ORDER ANY CONCESSIONS OR MOVIE MERCHANDISE you would like from the additional Add-Ons. You can pick up all concessions & merchandise at our tables in our lobby prior to the screening.
We will be able to sell concessions & merchandise at the theater. But it will make everything much quicker and easier if you pre-order!
3)PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ANYONE EXHIBITING COVID OR FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AT THE DOOR, WILL BE OFFERED COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS TO A FUTURE SHOW AND ASKED TO RETURN WHEN HEALTHY. So please, if you’re feeling sick, just write us at community@secretmovieclub.com and we’ll offer your complimentary tickets to a future screening when you’re healthy. We must be crazy to be showing all these long cinematic TV works in December. But. . .f@#k it. Sometimes you gotta go big.
Starting Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 7pm (when we'll show episodes 1-4) through Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11pm (when we complete the cycle with episodes 8-10), we'll be showing Kryzstof Kieslowski's & Krysztof Piesiwicz's towering cinematic work The Dekalog.
The Dekalog is a television mini-series (though essentially structured to function as a huge omnibus feature film) comprised of ten 1 hour episodes each tackling one of the ten commandments.
The genius of Kieslowski and Piesiwicz was to make several radical decisions:
1)All the episodes would take place in and around a 1980's Warsaw apartment complex where characters would intersect, re-appear, and sometimes affect not only their stories but the stories of others.
2)Each episode would take a commandment and then come up with a very complex human story to show how hard it is to live by the commandments and to question (rather than preach or lecture) the purpose of the commandment.
So for instance, Episode 2: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain tells the complex story of a Doctor who is faced with a very difficult moral conundrum. The wife of man dying in the doctor's care reveals she is pregnant by another man and that this might be her last chance to have a child. But she loves her husband. If he is going to live, she'll abort the baby. If he is going to die, she'll carry it to term.
She wants the doctor to tell her what to do.
The decision the doctor makes and how the episode plays out is so beautifully human, non-judgmental, profound that one realizes right away that Kieslowski and Piesiwicz are not out to convert athiests into believers (or the converse). But rather in one of the most profoundly cinematic works of all time-question, investigate, propose, explore.
A cinematic work that pulls off the miracle of somehow being admired by people of all philosophical backgrounds and dispositions, maybe because the work is so humble at the same time it is powerful, The Dekalog was admired by no one less than Stanley Kubrick who considered it one of the greatest works he had ever watched.

REFUNDS:
We can offer refunds up to 24 hours before showtime. Please request a refund through Eventbrite and we will process ASAP. After that, no refunds. Sorry.
However if something last minute comes up and you can’t make the screening, for whatever reason, just write us at: community@secretmovieclub.com and we’ll offer you complimentary tickets to a future screening.
HELPFUL SECRET MOVIE CLUB (1917 Bay Street, 2nd Floor, LA, CA 90021) THEATER PARKING TIPS:
We recommend that you park just outside our theater. Remember our theater is actually in a beautiful street art alleyway in the back of the 1917 Bay Street building. You get to our entrance by taking a right on Wilson, then a right behind the building. We are the first set of black steps on the right after the big gate.
There is, however, free parking all around the theater on Wilson and Bay Streets.
