7:30pm WARM BLOOD (2022, wri & dir by Rick Chamoski, shot on 16mm/presented on DCP, 86mns)
FILMMAKER Q&A with director Rick Chamoski & other WARM BLOOD cast/crew TO FOLLOW.
Cinema at its best has often had an element of punk rock. A bit of pirate's blood. Skater ethos and daring. There's so many voices telling a filmmaker no or it has to be done this way or that way that only those able to lock in and trust a vision and drown out the noise get anywhere.
Today we're proud to welcome filmmaker/skater Rick Chamoski and his movie Warm Blood which took 9 years to shoot and is lensed by noted cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt (First Cow, Emma, Night Moves). We're honored to shine the indie spotlight on this singular movie and talk with Rick about his journey to getting it done.
Warm Blood is going to be unlike anything you've ever seen. Shot on 16mm, Warm Blood tells the story of Red, a driven young runaway who returns to her hometown to track down her wayward father. Inhabiting the fringes of Modesto, California in the toxic haze of the 1980’s, WARM BLOOD is a politically subversive, searing collage of sound, narrative, documentary and trash B movie meta narratives, hand stitched by filmmaker Rick Charnoski.
Sometimes cinema is best jagged, raw, poetic, and brutal. If you're a moviemaker (or even just a movielover) who wants to see something new and talk with someone who got it done in this very weird cinematic climate, join us tonight as we screen, talk, hash out how cinema gets made these days. We're honored to welcome Rick, the Warm Blood team to the Secret Movie Club Theater and talk this out.
Best always,
Craig Hammill

*Please note that though we strive to always show titles on 35mm film if advertised, we may have to screen digitally if the print we receive is in such bad shape or if we don't receive the print in time because of a shipping delay. We will do our best to alert the audience. When this does occur, we will offer each ticket holder who chooses not to attend a complimentary ticket to a future event in exchange. (Disclaimer: Good for 90 days – Future screening must have available tickets, cannot be a fundraiser, and must be comparably priced)
