SPECIAL NOTE: This is a benefit fundraisder for TEENS 4 TEENS (https://www.teens4teensla.org/) run by actual teenager Lorelei Darling. Established to provide assistance and aid to older Youth in the Los Angeles Foster Care System, TEENS 4 TEENS aims to make sure that Older At Risk Youth know they're taken care of and supported.
Secret Movie Club is honored to partner with TEENS 4 TEENS for this one night benefit. ALL REVENUES will go to TEENS 4 TEENS.
Secret Movie Club would like, to the best of its abilities, to throw at least one fundraiser a quarter for a deserving charity or organization. Volunteering and contributing are key (in Secret Movie Club's opinion) to doing the right thing in this world. This is a way we can do that.
And you get to see a great movie on 35mm!

Tonight, we're honored to partner with the local teen-established and run TEENS 4 TEENS for a benefit 35mm screening of John Hughes' classic FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of those handful of American movies that one might rightly call "perfect". There just doesn't seem to be a wrong or wasted scene, line, moment in the entirety of this movie's fleet 98 minute running time.
Ferris Bueller, the younger brother of resentful Jeannie, and beloved son of his parents, decides it's time to skip school and have a "fun day". He ropes in his hypochondriac best friend Cameron and liberates his junior year girlfriend Sloan for a day in Chicago.
But when Assistant Principal Edward Rooney realizes that Ferris might be gaming the system, Rooney goes on a personal vendetta (aided by an angry Jeannie) to make sure that Ferris gets caught and has to repeat Senior Year.
Hilariously, Hughes supposedly wrote the first 50 or so pages of this movie when his producers on The Breakfast Club demanded he finish the script of that classic 80's teen movie. Instead, to deal with his writer's block, Hughes decided to write a story about a teen who can outsmart everyone and do what he wants to do.
This movie is this programmer's personal favorite John Hughes' movie. It hits that golden mean of hilarious comedy, poignant moments of comedy-drama, and human relationships to be a cinematic gift that keeps on giving. Like the Coen Brothers' The Big Lebowski, Scorsese's Goodfellas, or Coppola's first two Godfather movies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off just never seems to get old.
Only better.
Take a night off from the grind to have a great time for a worthy cause!
Best always,
Craig Hammill
