*Please note entrance/parking is actually in the back of the building. Make a right on Wilson Street, then a right behind the building. We’re the first set of black steps after the big gate. We’ll have staff to help guide/park you.

***Starting November 4th, 2021 ALL AUDIENCE will be required to show proof of vaccination at the door. PLEASE HAVE YOUR VIRTUAL OR PHYSICAL VACCINATION CARD READY BEFORE ENTERING THE THEATER. If you have a religious exemption, please have proof of a negative COVID test within 3 days of the screening.
***ALL GUESTS WILL BE TAKEN THROUGH PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO ENTERING THEATER SO EVERYONE CAN HAVE A FUN AND SAFE TIME.

2)PRE-ORDER ANY CONCESSIONS OR MOVIE MERCHANDISE you would like from the additional Add-Ons. You can pick up all concessions & merchandise at our tables in our lobby prior to the screening.
We will be able to sell concessions & merchandise at the theater. But it will make everything much quicker and easier if you pre-order!
3)PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ANYONE EXHIBITING COVID OR FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AT THE DOOR, WILL BE OFFERED COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS TO A FUTURE SHOW AND ASKED TO RETURN WHEN HEALTHY. This is it. Our final Fassbinder movie of 2021.
Though Fassbinder most likely made more "perfect" movies and though other Fassbinders are often considered his best, In A Year of 13 Moons is this programmer's favorite. In his top 35 of all time for sure.
The movie follows the last 3 days in the life of transgender Elvira who gave up her family, her everything to get a sex change for her lover. . .who then almost immediately dropped her and moved on.
As Elvira works to see her lover (a rich industrialist who lives in a skyscraper) one more time to see if they can patch it up, she re-visits all the key people in her life-from her estranged wife and daughter, to her prostitute best friend, to her former workplace (a slaughterhouse).
The impact of this movie is near impossible to describe. Made immediately after the suicide of Fassbinder's long-term lover Armin, In A Year of 13 Moons is both a shockingly vulnerable love letter to Armin and a kind of blistering takedown of Fassbinder himself.
In fact, Fassbinder appears, at one point, on TV in a documentary about himself that actually was airing at the time in West Germany. In the hands of anyone else, this moment would be self-indulgent and in bad taste (at the very least). But somehow, in the hands of Fassbinder, it is at the very heart of his integrity in acknowledging how his behavior was brutish and cruel towards a person whom he loved with all his heart.
One of Fassbinder's most openly emotional movies and decades ahead of its time in terms of its acceptance and understanding of the struggles of the transgender community, In A Year of 13 Moons is way more brilliant than this write-up can express.
Though it focuses on a very specific character, its impact is universal. Elvira could be any of us. She is all of us. She is an everyperson. She is deeply deeply sincere and admirable. She is trying to do her best.
This is one of international cinema's GREAT works.

We recommend that you park just outside our theater. Remember our theater is actually in a beautiful street art alleyway in the back of the 1917 Bay Street building. You get to our entrance by taking a right on Wilson, then a right behind the building. We are the first set of black steps on the right after the big gate.
There is, however, free parking all around the theater on Wilson and Bay Streets.
