Trey Parker and Matt Stone have somehow remained hilarious and creatively fresh and risk-taking for almost thirty years now. Not a small feat.

Tonight we celebrate two of their musical collaborations.

First up is South Park Bigger Longer Uncut the unbelievably great feature adaptation of their long-running animated Comedy Central show South Park.

Made relatively early in South Park's lifespan, the movie tells the standalone story of how a Terence and Phillip movie filled with horrible language and farting somehow kicks off a war between the United States and Canada and summons Satan.

At the time, no one was prepared for the fact that the movie would be a full blown musical as well with at least 6 banger numbers including hilarious satire riffs on Les Miserables and Disney animated movies of the 90's.

Somehow Parker and Stone have found a way to make hilariously inappropriate movies that everyone loves.

It all started with our second feature, Parker's directorial debut Cannibal The Musical which is. . .you guessed it. . .also a musical about something inappropriate, the true life story of Alfred Packer's ill-fated trip from Utah to Colorado in which a lot of people died and were then eaten.

Made while Parker and Stone (who produces and co-stars here) were still at the University of Boulder, Colorado (and taking classes from famed avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage who they honored by naming one of their South Park main characters Stan), this movie shows all the seeds of what Parker and Stone would become.

Of course, these two movies aren't the full tale as Parker and Stone then stormed Broadway with their hit musical The Book of Mormon about. . .you guessed it something that shouldn't have worked (a comedy about a Mormon trying to convert starving Africans in Africa) and yet worked brilliantly.

Come laugh, gasp, and learn the secret sauce.

Best always,
